Transforming Catholic School Websites Across Boston

May 05, 20263 min read

DOMORRE Marketing partnered with the Catholic Schools Support Network to build over ten custom WordPress websites, strengthen school brands, and empower staff across the Archdiocese of Boston.

Background

The Catholic Schools Support Network (CSSN), supported by the Lynch Foundation, works to strengthen Catholic elementary, middle, and secondary schools throughout the Archdiocese of Boston.

When the CSSN first approached DOMORRE, they had a clear goal.

Many schools were operating on website platforms such as eCatholic and Edlio that came with significant annual fees, restrictive contracts, limited support, and design constraints that often made schools look and feel the same.

The CSSN wanted more flexibility for the schools.

They envisioned websites that reflected the unique design, and call-to-actions to increase enrollment and donations, while providing flexible, affordable, long-term website solutions.

Our Role

Rather than simply building websites, DOMORRE Marketing became a strategic partner helping schools update their brand and call-to-actions.

Our work has included:

  • Website strategy and development

  • WordPress design and implementation

  • Staff training and website transition support

  • Logo design and visual identity development

  • Brand guides and standards

  • Marketing collateral design

  • Ongoing creative and communications support

This approach ensured each school received a custom solution tailored to its needs rather than a one-size-fits-all template.

The Challenge

Schools faced several common obstacles:

  • High annual costs associated with existing website platforms

  • Long-term contracts with limited flexibility

  • Minimal customization options

  • Difficulty obtaining support and making updates

  • Concerns about managing website content internally

  • Inconsistent branding across materials and communications

Insight

Throughout our discovery conversations, one concern surfaced repeatedly:

"Will we be able to manage the backend of the website ourselves?"

So, rather than creating systems schools would need to outsource indefinitely, we focused on empowering administrators and staff with the tools, training, and confidence needed to maintain their own websites.

Strategy

Create flexible, distinctive digital experiences that schools can confidently own and manage.

Key strategic pillars included:

Discovery & Collaboration

Beginning every project with conversations involving CSSN leadership and school stakeholders to understand the culture, priorities, and goals of each community.

Custom WordPress Development

Building websites that reflected the personality and identity of each school rather than relying on rigid templates.

Knowledge Transfer

Incorporating training and support into the offboarding process to ensure staff members felt comfortable making updates and managing content independently.

Brand Development

Expanding beyond websites to create logos, brand guides, and collateral that strengthened each school's individual identity.

Long-Term Sustainability

Providing schools with affordable, flexible platforms that reduced dependence on costly third-party systems.

Execution

Since 2024, DOMORRE has built eleven custom WordPress websites for schools throughout the Archdiocese of Boston.

Each project followed a collaborative process:

  • Discovery meetings with the CSSN team

  • Introductions and planning sessions with school leadership

  • Website architecture and design

  • Content organization and development

  • Training sessions for administrators and staff

  • Launch support and transition guidance

As relationships grew, the scope expanded to include:

  • Logo design

  • Brand guides

  • Admissions materials

  • Marketing collateral

  • Creative support for individual schools

The result was a collection of websites and brands that reflected the unique character of each school community.
